Sheriff says pay up.

FORT WAYNE, Ind.  – Allen County Sheriff Dave Gladieux wants people who overdose to pay for the naloxone first responders have to use on them.
The sheriff said he’s fed up with his officers having to revive the same addicts over and over again and says he wants to charge them $60.00 per dose.
“I think we need to start charging them everything we can, and if that includes charging them for the Narcan that saved their life, by God, let’s do it,” he said.
Allen County deputies carry 2 or 3 doses with them at a time. The sheriff said each dose costs the department about $40.00.
“We can’t program them and treat them for the rest of their lives because they’re not learning anything from their treatment,” Gladieux said.
